Symbolism of the Tree of Life
The tree of life symbol represents our personal development, uniqueness and individual beauty.
The tree takes root deep in the ground, acknowledging its connection to Mother Earth. Its leaves and branches stretch towards the sky, recognizing the Universe and accepting the energy that allows it to grow. In this energy, the Tree of Life signifies grounding and connection to the world.
In Buddhism, it is the Bodhi tree under which Siddharta Gautama meditated at his feet and where the first Buddha received enlightenment.
Criteria of the Best Yoga Mats?
A yoga mat is a pre-square that defines your space, in a group class. The practice of yoga is the experience of the Self. An inspiring mat allows you to practice in a "bubble" universe in which you can focus exclusively on yourself through concentration and breath. Like a ritual, after a few sessions, the connection to your universe of practice is increasingly easy and immediate.
Inspiration, safety and comfort to avoid:
- Subjects of disconcentration (slipping or falling).
- Strain in the knee or ankle joints.
- Blocking of the sequences or alignments of postures by a work surface that is too sticky (problem often found with 100% rubber mats).
- Imbalance and instability caused by thick mats of not dense enough material such as EVA foams usually used in gymnastics, fitness and Pilates.
Floor postures, to be fully beneficial, require a mat with sufficient but dense cushioning, just snug enough to be comfortable while feeling every part of your body
A good yoga mat is neither too thin nor too thick.
